Mark Anderson

Having served on staff in the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate, along with hundreds of Legislators from both political parties, Senate Presidents, Speakers of the House and Governors, Mark knows Florida’s decision-makers and the legislative process inside and out. With a wealth of government experience and a network of impressive relationships from across the state, Mark has an impeccable reputation and enjoys the trust and respect of his colleagues and Florida’s decision makers.

In 2002, Mark put his extensive government experience to work and established his own government affairs practice in Tampa.

In 2011, he relocated his Firm to Tallahassee.  Over the last several years, his Firm has grown from two clients to a diverse portfolio of more than twenty clients on a wide range of issues, including Education, Transportation, Local Government, Economic Development, Environmental Permitting, Water Projects, Workforce Development, Community Associations, Hotels and Restaurants, Business Regulations, Professional Associations and more than $200 million in successful Appropriations.

Mark has prevailed against some of the largest special interests in the nation and has been recognized as one of the top lobbyists in the state.

In 2017, he was featured on Comedy Central to illustrate the role of a Lobbyist within the context of the ongoing national debate on guns. He has also appeared in television interviews to raise awareness of the issues he is representing on behalf of his clients.

Most recently, in 2018, Mark was appointed by Governor Rick Scott to the Northwest Florida Regional Housing Authority to address an issue near and dear to the Governor: public housing.

Since 1992, he has worked in political campaigns on a local, state and federal level, so he also understands the critical importance of the politics that form the policies of our country’s third largest state. Mark’s active, year-round involvement, integrity and unparalleled work ethic have enabled his success.

Joshua Burkett

A former staffer in the state House of Representatives and student of Florida’s political landscape, Josh Burkett is indispensable to our practice and a rising star who has the necessary drive, attention to detail and follow up that is critical to our success.

Having been involved with Florida’s legislative process over the past seven years in both the public and private sectors, Josh has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience that our clients expect and appreciate.

His Master’s Degree in Applied American Politics and Policy from Florida State University brings a balanced and informed perspective to his work.

Joshua assists Mark and his clients with a multitude of issues including; advocacy, scheduling of legislator meetings, administrative day to day operations, and client services.

Accomplishments

Some of the many successes of our Firm’s career include:

Secured more than $200 million in state appropriations for clients.

Passed legislation creating public-private partnerships for road construction or public infrastructure projects for small counties.

Consistently defeated efforts to expand short term rentals in Florida’s neighborhoods.

Passed legislation creating the state-funded tuition assistance program, The Access to Better Learning in Education Program (ABLE) and secured full funding of the ABLE Grant Program with subsequent funding increases.

Passed historic legislation protecting homeowners and Community Associations from higher fees and assessments and burdensome legal liability.

Passed legislation increasing renewal fees for the “Florida Education” license plate.

Secured first public appropration for Holocaust instruction in Florida and subsequent funding increases.

Created the “School District Matching Grants Program” to leverage private investment in public education and secured full funding and subsequent funding increases.
